The radio show "This American Life" did an episode called "Got you pegged," which aired this weekend on WCPN. It talked about people making snap judgments. If you have an hour, give it a listen by clicking here.
In September 2008, Cleveland Magazine published a story looking at how Clevelanders view each other just based on a quick glance at a photograph.
The response was overwhelming. We were initially worried we wouldn't be able to find people willing to participate. Instead, people were begging to be photographed.
So we've opened the project up further on the Internet.
Take a look at the photos we've posted, and in the comments section let us know what your first impression of that person is. Be honest, but please refrain from racial epithets and cussing.
If you'd like to participate, click here to upload your own photo to be scrutinized by the Internet. We'll post your photo in this blog. Later, after people have an opportunity to give their first impressions of you, we'll reveal here what information you were willing to share about yourself -- setting people straight or proving them right.
